Occam Places CBO at A-Alpha Bio

In September 2025, Occam Global, a leader in executive recruiting for TechBio, placed Troy Lionberger, PhD, as CBO of A-Alpha Bio. 

Lionberger is a proven platform strategist and dealmaker with over a decade of experience in forming high-value partnerships across various markets, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology. Before joining A-Alpha, he served as the CBO at Abbratech and spent nearly ten years at Berkeley Lights, where he held R&D and business development roles. He led commercial initiatives that secured more than $200M in signed deals, including partnerships with Ginkgo Bioworks, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Bayer Crop Science. His cross-functional expertise also helped steer the company through its IPO and its eventual acquisition by Bruker Corporation.

Lionberger earned two undergraduate degrees from UC Berkeley in Molecular and Cell Biology and Bioengineering, as well as a Master's in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan.
